An Evening with Friends
The sun was shining and her glow began to turn more golden with every minute that went by. It was one of many beautiful summer nights Zurich had blessed us with this year. Glowing faces came together to experience one of the first dinner parties thrown by GAS, named after the Gasometer street where their first party was thrown. GAS was established by five bachelor friends who share the passion and drive to establish wonderful evenings for young people such as themselves…
Beautifully decorated tables were awaiting the guests, while they were handed a glass of sparkling wine, twisted by Angostura Bitter-infused sugar cubes. Meanwhile a gigantic piece of pork belly was building a crust in the oven and the water in the pots were brought to a boil. The clock seemed running and hectic feelings amongst the boys nearly provoked a dispute. On the outside, however, people were too busy admiring the beautifully lighted venue while greeting known and unknown faces.
It took a little before the 40 invitees had joined and the first dish could be served. Waiting guests had been soothed with some music, more sparkling wine and a platter of salted potatoes accompanied by a garlic dip. Finally, the guest were seated and served some extra virgin olive oil and bread to munch on, before it would be replaced by steamed, whole artichokes to share.
The dimming atmosphere couldn’t have been more suitable for what followed next. Dish after the dish the guests were surprised by mindfully arranged plates while sipping on a glass of red wine. The GAS team seemed to remain a little nervous throughout the evening, however, in a likeable way.
After all the seven dishes had been served and happily disguised by the guests, live music and a cocktail bar was all it needed to harmonically end the night.
